1. Who we are
WillVera Inc. ("WillVera", "we", "our", or "us") operates the website willvera.com and the will-generation platform available through it. We are based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

2. What information we collect
We collect information you provide directly when creating an account or using the platform:
- Account information — your email address and password (or Google account identifier if you sign in with Google)
- Personal details — your full legal name, date of birth, address, province of residence, and marital status, as needed to generate your will
- Family information — names and relationships of your spouse, children, parents, executor, guardian, and other beneficiaries you choose to include
- Estate information — assets, digital accounts, and instructions you enter into the platform
- Payment information — billing details processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number; Stripe handles all payment processing
We also collect limited technical information automatically:
- Browser type, device type, and operating system
- IP address and approximate geographic location
- Pages visited and time spent on the platform (via Firebase Analytics)
3. How we use your information
We use your information only for the following purposes:
- To generate your will and estate documents
- To create and maintain your account
- To process your payment and send payment confirmation
- To send transactional emails (document ready, account updates)
- To improve the platform and fix technical issues
- To comply with applicable Canadian law
We do not sell your personal information to any third party. We do not use your information for advertising or marketing profiling.
4. Third-party services
WillVera uses the following third-party services to operate the platform. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Google Firebase (Google LLC) — authentication, database storage, and hosting. Your data is stored in Google's cloud infrastructure. Firebase Privacy
- Stripe Inc. — payment processing. Stripe stores your payment method and billing details. Stripe Privacy
- Google Fonts — typography loaded from Google's CDN. No personal data is shared.
We do not share your personal information with any other third party unless required by law or with your explicit consent.
5. Data retention
We retain your account and document data for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion of your account, we will delete your personal information and documents within 30 days, except where we are required to retain records for legal or accounting purposes.
Payment records are retained for 7 years as required by Canadian tax law.
6. Your rights under PIPEDA
As a Canadian resident, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correction — request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete information
- Deletion — request that we delete your account and personal data
- Withdrawal of consent — withdraw consent to our use of your data (note this may prevent us from providing the service)
- Complaint — lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada

7. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including:
- Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest (AES-256 via Google Firebase)
- Firebase Security Rules ensuring each user can only access their own data
- Payment data handled exclusively by Stripe (PCI-DSS compliant)
- Access to production systems limited to authorized personnel only
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at info@willvera.com.
8. Cookies
WillVera uses the following cookies and similar technologies:
- Authentication cookies — set by Firebase to keep you signed in during your session. These are essential to the service and cannot be disabled.
- Analytics — Firebase Analytics uses anonymized identifiers to help us understand how the platform is used. No personally identifiable information is included.
We do not use advertising cookies or track you across other websites.
9. Children's privacy
WillVera is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with their information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify you by email. Continued use of WillVera after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
